Wooden toys are exciting and fun

Who said wooden toys are boring?

Maybe the guys who make all those coloured plastic toys or the ever increasing number of companies developing expensive learning ‘apps’. But not us, no siree, we think wooden toys are just the best!

Wooden toys are traditional, simple, fun playthings. More and more children these days are exposed to excessive use of electronic toys and screens with colourful lights and buttons. Manufacturers need to provide a manual on how to play and operate these toys, change batteries and warn of the dangers of small parts such as button batteries or knobs.

At first your kids might find these bells and whistles fascinating. It’s always easier being told how something works and what it will do, but in our experience once this initial excitement wears off kids usually get very bored. These types of modern toys provide little ‘real world’ stimulation for your kid’s imaginations and don’t encourage them to use the toy in a different way.

On the other side of the playground are wooden toys. These don’t come with an instruction manual, so your kids are in control…scary I know! They will look closely at the toys, pick them up, feel them, turn them over and this is when the real magic happens.

Their minds begin working overtime imagining what they can make this toy do, who they could share it with, what modifications they could make. Literally they are in control and decide how they feel like playing with them, meaning no end to creativity and enthusiasm.

So don’t miss this opportunity. There is only one childhood and we all know young children learn through play in the early ages so why not provide them the most suitable toys to encourage this? Giving them the toys to develop their own play style also helps them to solve problems, share with siblings and friends, reduce frustration and work through their emotions.
